Frequently Asked Questions

  • Both! I offer in-person appointments at my office located in downtown SLC, and I offer virtual telehealth appointments through secure platforms including Google Meet and TherapyPortal.

  • I currently offer appointments Monday through Thursday, with my earliest appointment starting at 9am and my latest appointment starting at 6pm. Evening appointment availability may vary. I do not have weekend openings.

  • Research shows that one of the most important factors for successful treatment is the therapeutic relationship. Each person connects with different therapists, so I encourage you to take the time to go through my website and see how my approach feels for you. If you connect with what you read, reach out and we can schedule a consultation call to further get to know each other.

  • The standard rate for ~45 minute therapy session is $135 and $145 for a ~60 minute session. I also offer sliding scale options as low as $60 per session and offer limited low or pro-bono options for individuals with financial need. I am also currently in-network with SelectHealth, Molina Marketplace, and Utah Medicaid insurance panels, and can provide documentation for out-of-network billing as needed. Different insurance plans may have different co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles that will impact in-network costs. We can verify this information prior to your first appointment. See the ‘Fees & Insurance’ tab above for more information.

  • Yes, I am in-network with SelectHealth, Molina Marketplace, and Utah Medicaid. I can also provide superbills for out-of-network billing. I am not in-network with any other insurance plans at this time.

  • We start with a free 15 minute consultation call where we get to know each other, your goals, and discuss my approach to make sure we are a good fit clinically and logistically.

Then, we will meet for a 90 minute intake appointment in which I will take a thorough assessment of your mental health and life history in order to understand your goals in therapy and have the important information I need to effectively work together.

After that, during our first therapy session, we will start by identifying YOUR specific goals you would like to work towards during therapy, and discuss how we can support you in getting there.

Finally, we meet weekly or every other week, utilizing research supported interventions to understand the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and help you develop the skills to live towards the values and life that you want. Making meaningful change requires practice, so you will be asked to practice skills or monitor your goals in-between sessions in a way that works for you.

Through your own personal assessment, measures, and your therapists professional opinion, we will determine when we have met your goals. At that point you may choose to create new goals, or discontinue therapy services. Upon termination, we will make sure to create a transition plan to help you maintain your progress and access to support.

  • Comprehensive DBT is your standard DBT program as DBT was designed and studied, which includes weekly individual DBT sessions, weekly DBT group skills training, access to 24/7 phone coaching support, and your therapist being in a DBT consultation team. This is the DBT treatment model that has been thoroughly researched and demonstrated to be most effective for individuals struggled with Borderline Personality Disorder, chronic suicidality and self-harm, or struggles with multiple disorders of emotion dysregulation.

DBT-informed treatment typically looks like stand-alone parts of a standard DBT program, most often simply individual therapy sessions that incorporate DBT principles and skills, and uses behavioral, cognitive, and mindfulness interventions. DBT-informed therapy may be effective for less severe emotion dysregulation or distress, but could be unhelpful, or even harmful, for individuals who meet criteria for a standard or comprehensive DBT program.

If you’re unsure of what makes sense for you, we can schedule an initial assessment to help you determine what will best meet your needs!
